A rare Comme des Garçons tunic from the Fall/Winter 1993 collection by Rei Kawakubo, documented on the original runway presentation. Exemplifying Kawakubo's deconstructivist approach to clothing, the piece juxtaposes contrasting textiles, unfinished construction, and painterly color to create a garment that challenges conventional notions of tailoring and decoration.

Crafted from soft rayon jersey, the body is dip-dyed in a warm gradient that transitions from blush pink to terracotta, giving the fabric an organic, hand-finished appearance. Running vertically through the center is a richly woven paisley brocade panel in deep green, burgundy, and brown, creating a striking dialogue between fluid knit and ornate jacquard. Rather than concealing the construction, the seams bordering the brocade are intentionally left raw and exposed, a signature design language that defined Rei Kawakubo's work throughout the early 1990s.

The relaxed silhouette features a softly rounded neckline with intentionally unfinished edges, long sleeves, gently dropped shoulders, and an elongated tunic length designed to be layered over trousers, exactly as presented on the original runway.
