Chloé Fall/Winter 2005 Silk Chiffon Handkerchief Dress – Ivory & Brown

Rare Chloé Fall/Winter 2005 dress in ivory and chocolate brown, combining a lingerie-inspired silk bodice with a softly layered handkerchief skirt.

The bodice is cut in chocolate brown silk satin, softly gathered through the centre to create subtle ruching across the bust. Wide ivory satin straps frame the shoulders, while a delicate openwork trim follows the squared neckline, introducing a light contrast against the darker silk.

At the waist, the silhouette changes completely. A wide ivory waistband sits high on the body, edged with a fine black velvet ribbon and finished at the centre with a sculptural black velvet bow. A layer of fine pleated tulle emerges just above the waistband, creating a delicate ruffled transition between the fitted bodice and the skirt.

Below, layers of fluid ivory chiffon release into a full, asymmetric handkerchief hem, falling in soft points around the body and giving the dress movement without adding weight. The contrast between brown satin, sheer ivory chiffon, black velvet and translucent tulle gives the piece an almost deconstructed lingerie quality characteristic of Chloé's romantic mid-2000s collections.
